Tobias is the romanization into Latin letters of the Koine Greek name Τωβίας, which itself is a Hellenization of the Biblical Hebrew name טוֹבִיה, Toviyah, 'Yah is good'. It is the name of several minor Biblical figures as well as a major character in the Book of Tobit.
